Suggested Summer Reading

This year the Andover Public Schools are joining forces with the fantastic librarians at Memorial Hall to come up with a list of suggested summer reading titles for your middle school student. These titles are excellent choices for your incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, but please be aware that they are not required reading. The required reading list will be available through the ELA teachers and that information will be available for pick up during Open House.

Fiction

  • Running Out of Time, by Margaret Peterson Haddix
  • Ungifted, by Gordon Korman
  • Rebel Fire: Sherlock Holmes the Legend Begins, by Andrew Lane
  • Lions of Little Rock, by Kristin Levine
  • Counting By 7’s, by Holly Goldberg Sloan

Non-Fiction

  • Invisible Microbe: Tuberculosis and the Never-Ending Search for a Cure, by Jim Murphy and Alison Blank
  • Bomb: The Race to Build (And Steal) the World’s Most Dangerous Weapon, by Steve Sheinkin
  • Chasing Lincoln’s Killer, by James Swanson

Memorial Hall has plenty of copies of each of these titles. We hope you enjoy one (or a few!) over the summer.
